Experience
- UNDP Global Environment Facility (GEF) - Western Indian Ocean Marine Highway Development and Coastal and Marine Contamination Prevention Project - Analysis of the Requirements for Hydrographic Surveys to enable production of Electronic Nautical Charts for Specific Ports and Approaches.
Contributed to successful tender preparation. Subsequently retained by International Hydrographic Management Consultants to provide expert support and advice concerning the current status of hydrography and nautical charting in five Recipient States. Provided administrative support for the preparation and compilation of the preliminary national reports and the final composite report. (2010)
- Personal knowledge of institutions and individuals involved in hydrography,
nautical charting and sea communications in Indonesia (1997), Philippines (2005-7)
and Sri Lanka (2004/5 and 2007/9). Direct experience of sea communications
and port facilities in eastern part of Indonesia.
- Responsible for initiating project proposal by UKHO Admiralty Consultancy Divison,
for Coastal Zone Mapping and establishing Spatial Data Infrastructure for a tsunami
affected coastal state. Assignment included facilitating visit by UK delegation to
present proposals and subsequent project definition discussions with concerned agency,
tracking proposal and identifying potential funding sources (2005).
- Identification of marine resource survey requirements for overseas government
agencies and presenting proposals for institution building, training, equipment
procurement and vessel specifications.
- Advised Asian Development Bank (ADB) on hydrographic aspects of a proposed
Marine Resources Evaluation and Planning Project in Indonesia (1992).
Assisted in execution of resulting project with multi-disciplinary team delivering
the Marine & Coastal Ecological Systems and Processes component.
T.O.R. included advising National Mapping Agency on specification, procurement
and exection of bathymetric surveys, preparation of mapping products to meet
planning needs and technology transfer to local counterpart (1995).
